PORTSMOUTH, RI — A Portsmouth man is facing charges after police discovered two dogs living in poor conditions, prompting authorities to condemn the home and take the animals into care.
According to Portsmouth police, Animal Control received a complaint alleging the dogs were not being properly cared for. Upon executing a search warrant, detectives found one dog in particularly poor condition, while the other was also removed from the residence.
John Lane McMahon was taken into custody in connection with the case. The home was deemed unfit for habitation and condemned by authorities.
The Potter League is currently treating both dogs, police said.
McMahon is scheduled to be arraigned on April 3.
