In a chilling case from Balkum, Maharashtra, a married woman, Poonam Kalidas Waghmare (28), and her lover, Suresh Hariprasad Yadav (24), were arrested for allegedly conspiring to kill Poonam’s alcoholic husband, Kalidas Waghmare (30). The police are still searching for the victim’s body after he was thrown into a creek on May 16.
The Rabale Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) Police launched an investigation after Poonam filed a missing person complaint for her husband. However, discrepancies in her statements raised suspicion. Upon detailed interrogation, both Poonam and Suresh confessed to the plot.
According to police, Poonam had encouraged Yadav to eliminate her husband, who was reportedly abusive when intoxicated. Acting on this, Yadav got Kalidas heavily drunk and abandoned him near the creek, where he was thrown in, presumably to drown. Authorities suspect the strong current may have carried the body away.
The case highlights the dark consequences of domestic abuse and the lengths some take to escape it. The police continue their search for Kalidas’s body and further investigation.
