Pollachi Police Arrest 5 for Illegal Painkiller Sales

Youths sold pills to inject and get high near Kottur

The Pollachi rural police on Monday arrested five youths for illegally selling painkillers to youngsters who were using them to get high near Kottur, Pollachi.

The arrested individuals were identified as N Naveen (24), S Akash (26), K Paunraj (24), P Prabhu (29), and H Hariharan (29), all residents of the Pollachi jurisdiction.

Police said the arrests were made following a tip-off about the youths selling painkillers near the railway bridge at Kottur. Users were reportedly dissolving the pills in normal saline solution and injecting them to achieve a high. During the search, authorities found used syringes at the location.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the painkillers had been procured online. Police seized 106 pills and three syringes from the accused. The five youths were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
