Police have successfully solved multiple theft cases that took place during the recent floods, with arrests made in two separate operations. The accused exploited the flood situation, targeting vacant homes at night and stealing valuables to fund their extravagant lifestyles and substance abuse.

On December 30, 2024, Vallepu Naga Raju (24) and Vallepu Srinivas (24), both residents of Ajith Singh Nagar, were arrested near the railway tracks in Rama Nagar Colony. The duo was caught breaking into unattended homes and committing thefts. Police recovered 454 grams of silver ornaments from them, which were linked to three theft cases in Nandamuri Nagar and Luna Center.

In a separate operation on Thursday, two juveniles were apprehended near Vaddera Colony with stolen property, including 72.56 grams of gold, 316 grams of silver ornaments, and Rs10,000 in cash. These stolen items were connected to thefts in Pipeline Road, Nandamuri Nagar, and Luna Center. The juveniles had also stolen a handbag containing cash during a flood-relief food distribution event.

Both the arrested men and juveniles were reportedly indulging in substance abuse and lived extravagant lifestyles, using the stolen items to fund their habits. They specifically targeted vacant homes in Ajith Singh Nagar and nearby areas during the floods, breaking locks and stealing valuables.
