Ernakulam Police and Excise Department continued their ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking, making multiple arrests and seizing narcotic substances on Tuesday.
In a significant operation in Paravur, the police arrested three individuals with 2.71 grams of MDMA. Sonu (23), from Kottuvally, Athul (27), from Nikathil, and Anwar (27), from Vedimara, were apprehended while attempting to sell drugs near an abandoned house at Vaniyakad Vazhikulangara. The drugs were found in Sonu’s shoulder bag following a tip-off, leading to their immediate detention.
The operation was led by Inspector Shojo Varghese, assisted by Sub-Inspectors KU Shine and PK Shine, along with Senior Civil Police Officers Shani, Riyas, Aneesh, Shinto Joy, and Civil Police Officer Krishna Lal.
In a separate raid near the Chittethukara District Jail Junction in Kakkanad, the city police arrested a West Bengal resident with 4.9 kg of ganja. The arrested individual, identified as Rohan Sekh (21), from Murshidabad, West Bengal, was nabbed based on confidential information provided to City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya. The arrest was carried out by the Dansaf team led by Assistant Commissioner of the Narcotic Cell, KA Abdul Salam.
These operations are part of the sustained efforts by law enforcement agencies in the region to combat drug trafficking and ensure the safety of the community.
