Pitt County Man Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges During Traffic Stop

Kawan D. Britt faces multiple charges including trafficking heroin and cocaine

PITT COUNTY, NC — Kawan D. Britt, 42, of Windsor, was arrested on drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office on Old River Rd. and Derek St.. The stop was part of the Speed a Little Lose a Lot safety campaign, aimed at reducing traffic violations.

Deputies, supported by the Special Operations and Gang and Gun Units, stopped Britt’s vehicle after observing a misdemeanor offense. During the stop, authorities uncovered a significant amount of illegal substances, leading to Britt’s arrest on the following charges:

Trafficking Opium and Heroin

Felony Possession of Cocaine

Felony Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance

Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Britt was presented before a magistrate and was given a $400,000 secured bond. He remains in custody at the Pitt County Detention Center awaiting further legal proceedings.
