In a series of coordinated operations conducted on March 3, Punjab Police in Phillaur achieved major breakthroughs in multiple criminal cases, including narcotics trafficking, theft, and other offences. The arrests were made during routine patrols and naka checking across Jalandhar Rural and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district.
Heroin Seizure Near Meewal
In the first operation, a police team patrolling near the Sutlej river embankment intercepted Sunny Kapoor, a resident of village Ganna near Phillaur. He was stopped near the cremation ground of Meewal while riding a motorcycle.
During the search, officers recovered 6 grams of heroin from his possession. Police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and took the accused into custody for further investigation.
Theft Suspect Arrested
In another incident, a theft case was registered following a complaint by Pradeep Singh, a resident of Talwandi village (Nakodar). He reported spotting a man attempting to steal electrical wiring from his motorcycle after cutting the wires.
The complainant managed to apprehend the suspect and hand him over to police. The accused was identified as Sonu, originally from Ajnala and currently residing in Chuhar village near Nakodar. Police recovered stolen wires worth approximately Rs2,000 and formally arrested him.
Drug Tablets Seized in Shankar
Continuing their anti-narcotics drive, police arrested Manpreet Singh alias Pita, a resident of Musewal village near Nakodar. During checking operations in Shankar village, officers recovered 42 intoxicant tablets from his possession. A case was registered and further investigation is ongoing.
Two Arrested With Heroin in Soeta
In a separate operation in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district, police conducting naka checking near Soeta village noticed two suspicious individuals along the Bist Doab Canal road.
The suspects attempted to discard a packet before fleeing, but officers quickly apprehended them. They were identified as Baljinder Singh alias Gullu, a resident of Soeta village, and Daljit Singh alias Raju, from Usmanpur village near Rahon.
The discarded polythene packet, checked and documented using the E-Sakshya App, contained 6.9 grams of heroin. Police registered a case under the NDPS Act and launched further investigation.
