Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrest of Pedro Elliot following a high-speed pursuit that began in Moore County and ended in Richmond County.

On Tuesday at approximately 7:15 p.m., deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office spotted a Toyota Camry driven by Elliot, who had outstanding warrants for his arrest. When deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Elliot fled at a high rate of speed, attempting to evade capture, according to Sheriff Fields.

The chase continued into Richmond County, where Elliot eventually stopped at the intersection of Ledbetter Road and Beaverdam Church Road. After stopping, he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. Deputies pursued him on foot and apprehended him shortly thereafter, transporting him to the Moore County Detention Center.

Elliot, 55, of Southern Pines, faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing to elude arrest, failing to heed light or siren, reckless driving, resisting a public officer, and several traffic violations. Additionally, he was served with a pending arrest warrant for a violation of probation.

He is currently held without bond at the Moore County Detention Center, with a first court appearance scheduled for September 18 in Moore County District Court.
