Paul Grant Murray Accused in $135K Ticket Fraud Scheme

Montgomery Co. man charged with scamming 17 victims

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A Conshohocken man is facing multiple theft charges after allegedly defrauding at least 17 victims out of more than $135,000 by promising but never delivering tickets to Philadelphia Eagles games, Taylor Swift concerts, and other events.

Paul Grant Murray, 27, is accused of running the scam across multiple counties including Lancaster, Bucks, Montgomery, and others.

According to charging documents, five victims in Lancaster County lost nearly $14,000 after Murray promised them Eagles tickets he never delivered.

In Bucks County, Murray allegedly stole over $134,000 from 10 people, offering discounted resale tickets to Taylor Swift concerts and Philadelphia Phillies games. Police say some of the stolen funds were spent on online sports betting, with over $300,000 wagered across seven months in 2024 alone.

In one Lancaster County case, Murray told three victims he worked for ESPN Bet and could offer discounted Eagles season tickets. After failing to deliver, he mailed fake receipts and later gave a check for $4,370 — which bounced due to a closed account. The victims later confirmed with ESPN that Murray no longer worked there.

Other cases describe Murray making repeated excuses and then ignoring communication, including disabling message notifications from victims. In another incident, he promised five season tickets in exchange for a $9,405 check, which also resulted in no tickets being delivered.

He faces charges across four jurisdictions, including:

Theft by deception

Bad checks

Receiving stolen property

Deceptive business practices

Criminal use of a communication facility

Murray remains free on a total of $274,500 in unsecured bail and is scheduled for several court appearances in September across various counties.
