In a significant operation on Wednesday, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) arrested Manoj Jha, an accountant at Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital in Patna, for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 in his office.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by Nihal Kumar from Rohtas district, who alleged that Jha had demanded the bribe for processing the pending salary, group insurance, and other government benefits after the death of Kumar’s wife during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Kumar, the accountant’s actions delayed the necessary financial assistance that he was entitled to.
Upon verifying the complaint, the VIB found evidence supporting the bribe demand, prompting a raid led by Shafi Shekhar Chaudhary, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the Vigilance Bureau. As a result, Jha was arrested while accepting the bribe.
Following his arrest, Jha will be interrogated before being presented in the Vigilance Court in Patna.
