Pastor Peter Kinuthia Arrested for Defrauding 75-Year-Old Woman

The Final Week of January 2025 Sees Dramatic Arrests and Personal Stories

by Amelia Crawford

The last week of January 2025 started with a dramatic turn of events, with Pastor Peter Kinuthia Waithunguri of ACK Buruburu arrested for allegedly defrauding a 75-year-old woman, Margaret Watiri, of her land. The elderly woman had trusted the pastor to assist with a loan, but she later discovered that he had used her property as collateral without her knowledge. Despite a court ruling in her favor, the pastor reportedly refused to return the title deed, leaving Watiri homeless and living in fear.

In another emotional story, Bishop Sarah of Sarah-Life Vision Freedom Ministries opened up about her struggles. Once overseeing seven churches, Bishop Sarah now faces a devastating fall from grace. She shared how her life spiraled into hardship, resulting in one of her sons being incarcerated and her inability to pay for her children’s school fees. With no income and mounting debt, she even lost her home and was left with nothing. During this period of despair, she fell into alcoholism. However, her story touched many hearts after Kinyanya, a man who witnessed her suffering, shared her journey on social media. As a result, Bishop Sarah is now at the Beyond Love Rehabilitation Centre, with efforts being made to raise KSh 340,000 for her recovery over the next three months.

Meanwhile, two Kericho sisters who had studied abroad made a heartwarming gesture for their parents by renovating their childhood home. Over the course of 18 months, the sisters transformed their mud-walled house into a stunning two-storey farmhouse, which they gifted to their parents. A TikTok video of the home renovation went viral, inspiring many Kenyans to consider doing the same for their loved ones.

Amid these stories, a tragic incident rocked Kenyans as John Kiama Wambua from Huruma was reportedly arrested for allegedly killing his wife and keeping her remains in a bag. Additionally, the family of Beth Muthoni Watuku from Gatundu endured heartbreak as she passed away during prayer and fasting at a shrine.

Not all stories were filled with sorrow, as YouTubers Milly Wa Jesus and Kabi joyously welcomed their third child, spreading happiness amid the grief. These diverse stories captured the attention of the nation, offering both sadness and inspiration in equal measure.
