PASADENA, Texas – A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Payas Deo, a college student from Pasadena.

Nickalous Ahmed Benjamin has been charged with murder and tampering with a human corpse following the disappearance and death of Deo, a student at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL). Deo went missing on February 8 after leaving his home at The Reserve at Clear Lake. According to his family, he was last seen pulling out of the driveway of their Peony Meadow Trail residence, after which he was never heard from again.

The Pasadena Police Department, alongside Texas EquuSearch, launched an investigation and search for Deo after he was reported missing.

On March 1, Deo’s body was discovered in southeast Houston near Dumas Street. Medical examiners determined that Deo died from gunshot wounds to his head and neck, ruling his death a homicide.

Details surrounding the arrest of Nickalous Benjamin remain limited at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
