Chhattisgarh police have arrested four individuals, including one juvenile, for the abduction and murder of 35-year-old pharmacy graduate Manas Ranjan Tripathi of Nuapada. The victim’s body was discovered on May 9 in the Komakhan area of neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
The accused—Parsuram Dansena (20), Ganpat Dansena (27), Saroj Dansena (24), and a juvenile — kidnapped Manas on the evening of May 8 as he rode his motorcycle to visit Mahuabhata. When his mobile phone went offline, his family reported him missing.
Komakhan police later found a body wrapped in tape near Kasekera-Tongopani village. Postmortem confirmed suffocation as the cause of death, categorizing it as murder.
Through interrogation, Parsuram admitted the group attempted a ransom after binding Manas’s mouth and hands with tape, checked his bank balance, and, finding only Rs 9,000, suffocated him. They then dumped his body in a forest area.
Police recovered the car used in the crime, Manas’s motorcycle, medical bag, and the accused’s mobile phones. All four have been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
