A 32-year-old man has been arrested by the Begumpet Police for his involvement in multiple theft cases across Hyderabad and Tirupati. The accused, Papani Kranthi Kumar, a resident of Madhura Nagar, Tirupati, is a repeat offender with a criminal record spanning over 14 cases, including theft, housebreaking, and narcotics offenses.
According to reports, Kumar primarily targeted elderly women. His latest crimes include snatching a gold chain from a 75-year-old woman while she was sleeping and deceiving another 75-year-old woman by pretending to inquire about rental space before snatching ornaments worth around 5 tulas.
Acting on credible information, the police arrested Kranthi Kumar and recovered gold ornaments weighing approximately 9.4 tulas, valued at about Rs8 lakh. The recovered items include a pearl necklace and two gold chains, which were stolen from the victims.
The arrest has brought some relief to the victims, as police continue to investigate his involvement in other unsolved thefts.
