In a major development in the alleged Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) recruitment scam, police arrested suspended IPS officer P. Sitarama Anjaneyulu, who previously served as the Secretary of APPSC.
Anjaneyulu, already in judicial custody at Vijayawada jail for the alleged illegal arrest and harassment of Bollywood actress Kadambari Jethwani, was taken into custody again on Thursday under a prisoner transit (PT) warrant.
He was produced before the court by the NTR Commissionerate police, which subsequently remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the recruitment scam.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into potential irregularities in the recruitment process during his tenure at the APPSC. This arrest adds a significant layer to the unfolding scandal that has gripped the state.
