The Oxford Police Department arrested Christopher Suggs Jr., 18, in connection with a robbery and shooting that occurred at a local hotel. On Sunday, officers responded to a call about gunshots fired from a hotel room. After clearing the room, they found no one inside but were later informed that a victim had arrived at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi’s emergency department with non-life-threatening injuries.

Reports indicate that several individuals were in the hotel room when a confrontation escalated. The suspect demanded money while brandishing a firearm, leading to a struggle. During the altercation, gunshots were fired, injuring the victim.

On Tuesday, officers located Suggs while on patrol, and he was taken into custody without incident. Suggs was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.

OPD Chief Jeff McCutchen commended the police efforts, stating, “Thanks to the diligent work of our officers and investigators, we were able to resolve this case in less than 48 hours, ensuring the safety of our community.”

The Oxford Police Department is continuing its investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact CrimeStoppers at 662-234-8799.
