In an ongoing investigation into a Guatemala-based drug trafficking operation, two individuals were arrested in Eureka, California. The Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF) reported that 29-year-old Oscar Rocael Cruz-Ramos was identified as a key narcotics trafficker, and 26-year-old Yamileth Rodas-Larios was his accomplice.
The investigation, which began in November 2024, involved undercover agents making multiple drug and firearm purchases from Cruz-Ramos. On March 14, 2025, agents arranged a meeting in Eureka, where Cruz-Ramos and Rodas-Larios sold 2.2 pounds of cocaine to the agent.
Following the transaction, both suspects were arrested. A subsequent search of multiple properties linked to Cruz-Ramos led authorities to uncover 103 pounds of processed marijuana and hundreds of money transfer receipts, indicating significant cross-border financial activity between Humboldt County, Mexico, and Guatemala. Over $14,000 in U.S. currency was also seized during the search.
The investigation into the broader drug trafficking network remains active, and authorities are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Humboldt County Drug Task Force.
