In a major breakthrough under Operation Dawn 2.0, Banderdewa Police conducted two swift and coordinated operations, leading to the arrest of four interstate drug peddlers and the seizure of 113.22 grams of suspected heroin in the Itanagar Capital Region. Superintendent of Police, Naharlagun, Mihin Gambo, confirmed the development.

The first operation, registered as Banderdewa PS Case No. 35/2025 under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, was carried out at the Banderdewa check gate. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police intercepted a scooty and apprehended the rider, identified as Dongja Kabak (39), a native of Raga in Kamle district, currently residing in Nirjuli. During the search, officers recovered 30 vials containing 39.67 grams of suspected heroin. The seizure was conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses.

Soon after, the second operation (Case No. 36/2025 under Sections 21(b)/25 NDPS Act read with Section 3(5) of the BNS) was launched at a hotel near PTC Banderdewa based on credible information. Police arrested three individuals — Vikash Doley (26), Biswa Morang (28), and hotel owner Mrs. Makan Doley (50). A concealed cache of 55 vials weighing 73.55 grams of suspected heroin was recovered along with ₹14,060 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.

The operations were carried out by a team from Banderdewa Police Station led by Inspector Kipa Hamak, Officer-in-Charge, with support from multiple officers and personnel of the 138 Battalion CRPF. The entire operation was conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate-cum-Circle Officer Mrs. Taba Milka and Deputy SP Matin Ratan, under the supervision of SP Naharlagun Mihin Gambo and SDPO Rishi Longdo.

Police officials said that over the past two weeks, the Itanagar Capital Region Police have registered nine NDPS cases and arrested 19 drug peddlers, reflecting an intensified crackdown on narcotics networks in the region.
