The Niti Vihar Police in Itanagar successfully apprehended an individual, Saiyad Imran Hasan, during a targeted raid on a tyre repair shop near JNK Public School, Division-4, Itanagar. Acting on a tip-off, a team of officers led by SDPO Itanagar Dy. SP Kengo Dirchi carried out the operation.
The police recovered 12.93 grams of suspected heroin, which was found in 40 vials and a plastic pouch. The raid was conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate Smty. Taba Milka and an independent witness, the tyre shop owner.
The arrested individual, Saiyad Imran Hasan, has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The authorities are continuing their investigation to explore potential connections to a larger drug trafficking network.
SP Rohit Rajbir Singh (IPS), supervising the operation, praised the swift action of the police team and reiterated the commitment of the Itanagar Police to combat drug-related activities in the region. “We urge citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help create a safer community,” he added.
