CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the July shooting death of Rashaka Prince in east Charlotte.
Prince, 18, was found with gunshot wounds on Cattail Court near Plaza Road Extension on July 18. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but died from his injuries shortly after. His family had been demanding answers and justice since the tragedy occurred.
“We’re going to find you, and once we do, justice will be served,” said Justice Barns, Prince’s father, in an emotional statement to WBTV in July.
After months of investigation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police identified Omar Teasley, also 18, as the suspect. He was taken into custody on December 30 during a response to an unrelated 911 call. Teasley now faces a murder charge in connection to Prince’s death.
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or submit tips online. Detective Condron is the lead investigator in the case.
