Panchkula police have arrested Om Prakash, a Saketri auto-driver from Churu, Rajasthan, in connection with the tragic hit-and-run death of Retired Lieutenant General Kulwant Singh Mann, 87. The incident occurred near the Mansa Devi Complex on January 9.
Following the accident, General Mann’s wife lodged a complaint, prompting the police to register a case under Sections 281, 125(b), and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). After a six-day investigation, Om Prakash was apprehended by local authorities.
Inspector Munish Kumar stated that the MDC area will see increased patrols, and additional CCTV cameras will be installed at traffic signals and other key locations to strengthen road safety measures.
The arrest has brought some relief to the victim’s family, while police continue their efforts to prevent similar incidents in the future.
