ROME, Georgia (WGME) — Olivia Elaine Black, 48, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing more than $200,000 from her employer, GMC Value Mart.
Black, who worked at the store since 2018, used her position to issue herself fake refunds at the end of each shift, taking amounts ranging from $1,000 to $2,000. According to reports, she continued this scheme for over a year, resulting in a total theft of $230,390.
She was charged with 233 felony counts of theft by taking. As part of her sentencing, Black is required to pay restitution of over $200,000 to GMC Value Mart.
The thefts took place between March 2023 and March 2024, with Black reportedly falsifying refund records to cover up the missing funds.
This case serves as a reminder of the consequences of workplace theft and fraudulent activity.
