Yeison Rodriguez Acosta, a New York City police officer and former Wells Fargo employee, has been charged with stealing over $87,000 from bank customers to cover personal expenses, including luxury BMW payments and a gluteus-building fitness program called Booty by Jacks.

The 27-year-old officer allegedly began the thefts while working as an operations coordinator at a Wells Fargo branch in Rye Brook, New York, from March to September 2024. After joining the Police Academy last fall and being assigned to the Bronx’s 48th Precinct in May, he continued using customer data obtained during his banking job to make unauthorized withdrawals totaling $87,243.81 from 14 accounts.

Westchester District Attorney Susan Cacace condemned Rodriguez Acosta’s actions, saying, “The defendant’s brazen conduct, as alleged, does a disservice to his colleagues in law enforcement, who wear the badge honorably and took the same oath to protect and serve.”

Rodriguez Acosta was arrested Wednesday and arraigned Thursday in Rye City Court. He faces nine counts each of third-degree grand larceny and first-degree identity theft, among other charges. He was released on the condition that he surrender his passport and maintain daily contact with the court until his next hearing in September.

The New York Police Department confirmed that Rodriguez Acosta has been suspended without pay. Wells Fargo stated he is no longer employed by the bank and confirmed their full cooperation with authorities.

Representing attorney John J. Pappalardo has not yet commented on the case.
