Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested Subhash Chandra Panda, the Deputy General Manager (Eng. Civil) of the Odisha State Police Housing Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) **Berhampur Division), after uncovering massive disproportionate assets.

The arrest came a day after the Vigilance raided Panda’s properties, finding significant wealth, including two multi-storeyed buildings—one of which is a triple-storeyed palatial building—registered in his name in Bhubaneswar. Panda had also transferred Rs66 lakh to a realtor to purchase a flat in the city.

In addition to the buildings, the Vigilance uncovered 870 grams of gold, five high-value plots, bank deposits exceeding Rs1.84 crore, and cash worth Rs13.47 lakh. Panda was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of these assets.

“Subhash Chandra Panda, Deputy General Manager, Eng. (Civil), Odisha State Police Housing Welfare Corporation, Berhampur Division, has been arrested and will be forwarded to the court for possession of disproportionate assets,” stated the Vigilance in a release.

Earlier in the day, the Vigilance also arrested Kamakhyanagar Sub-Collector Narayan Chandra Nayak on similar charges after raiding properties linked to him. Nayak was found to possess 14 high-value plots, 366 grams of gold, and three multi-storeyed buildings, including a triple-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar.
