In a recent bust, Odisha Police arrested two individuals, Manas Ranjan Senapati (26) and Ashis Swain (23), for impersonating police officers and attempting to deceive the public with counterfeit currency. The arrest occurred on Sunday night during a routine patrol by Saheed Nagar police in Bhubaneswar.

According to Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, the suspects were stopped while traveling in a car for routine checking. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the duo had been using fake police uniforms, forged identity cards, and altered photographs to pass themselves off as legitimate officers.

Singh stated, “We are investigating this case from two angles: one related to impersonation and another focused on uncovering the counterfeit currency racket.” The police are actively pursuing leads on the origin of the counterfeit notes and whether other individuals are involved in this illegal operation.

During the arrest, authorities seized 386 fake Rs 500 notes, adding a serious financial crime aspect to the case. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to determine the full extent of the operation.
