In a coordinated effort between Odisha Police and Goa Police, two individuals wanted in connection with the murder of Rupsingh Mhaji were arrested on Monday in St. Cruz, North Goa.
The body of Rupsingh Mhaji was found at Deysur Pond, Kalahandi, Odisha, on May 23, 2025, prompting a murder investigation under Cr. No. 56/25 filed by Odisha Police.
Suspects Lingraj Man (36) and Thabir Maji (23), both residents of Kalahandi, were traced to Goa after Odisha Police sought assistance from their Goa counterparts.
Under the leadership of SP North Goa Rahul Gupta, two teams from Old Goa Police joined forces with Odisha officers, including SI Baidyanath Nayak and Constable R. R. Patra, to conduct a thorough search in the St. Cruz and Merces areas.
The joint teams successfully apprehended the suspects, who have now been handed over to Odisha Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mhaji’s death, while the accused await further questioning upon their return to Odisha.
