Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Rebati Raman Joshi, an Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) from the Hirakud Wildlife Division, for possessing disproportionate assets on Thursday. The arrest followed a series of searches conducted on Joshi’s properties, which revealed assets worth approximately Rs. 1.80 crore.
Among the seized properties were three buildings, including a triple-storeyed structure in Sambalpur town, four flats (one in Bhubaneswar and three in Sambalpur), and seven plots of land. In addition, the officials recovered Rs. 14.71 lakh in cash. Joshi could not satisfactorily explain the origins of these assets.
As a result, Joshi has been placed under arrest by the Odisha Vigilance and will be presented before the court. The case, registered under Sambalpur Vigilance PS (Case No. 28/2024), highlights the ongoing efforts to tackle corruption in the state.
