Nyia Williams, Breanna Lafountain Arrested After Shot Fired in Opelousas

Two arrested following disturbance and gunfire at Opelousas apartment

OPELOUSAS, La. — Two individuals were arrested following a disturbance that involved several women and a shot fired inside an apartment on Bernice Street near Ina Clare Drive on Saturday, July 5, around 3:15 p.m.

Nyia Williams, 19, of Carencro, faces multiple charges including illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, resisting an officer, obstruction of justice, and simple criminal damage to property. Breanna Lafountain, 22, of Opelousas, was also arrested and charged with obstruction of justice.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries resulted from the incident. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to gather information.
