Ethan Contrera Rodriguez, a 19-year-old student from Nova Southeastern University, was arrested on February 27, 2025, facing two charges of sexual battery. The arrest follows two separate alleged incidents that took place in 2024.
Rodriguez, of Kissimmee, was arrested by Davie police and appeared before a Broward County judge the next day. The judge set his bond at $300,000 for the two counts of sexual battery. The charges stem from two separate incidents, one occurring on September 7, 2024, and the other on October 12, 2024.
In the September incident, the victim reported that Rodriguez had messaged her on Instagram, inviting her to his dorm room. Despite telling him she was menstruating and did not want to be intimate, Rodriguez reportedly ignored her objections, forcing himself on her. The victim said she repeatedly told Rodriguez to stop, but he continued until she managed to leave the room.
In the October incident, a second victim alleged that Rodriguez continued to engage in inappropriate behavior after she told him she was not interested in anything beyond a movie. Despite her repeated objections and requests for him to stop, Rodriguez allegedly continued his advances, culminating in sexual acts. A controlled call later revealed Rodriguez acknowledging that he should have stopped when the victim asked.
Rodriguez was initially arrested on November 7, 2024, but was later released after posting bond. Following the new charges, he remains in custody at the Broward Main Jail. If he posts bond, Rodriguez will be required to wear a GPS monitor and is prohibited from contacting the victims or returning to the NSU campus in Davie.
