A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Mrs. Tosin Olagunju, an official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to be remanded in Suleja prison for allegedly defrauding job seekers of N12,400,000.00. Olagunju, who faces four charges related to this fraud, pleaded not guilty.
During the proceedings, prosecutor Princewill Eke requested a specific trial date. Defense counsel M. A. Oloniruka indicated that a bail application had been filed, but it was not available in court. When Oloniruka attempted to apply for bail orally, Justice Nyako denied the request, emphasizing that all petitions must be formal and in writing.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for October 9, during which Olagunju will remain in custody. Accused of using her position to promise job placements at the NSCDC, Olagunju is charged with obtaining money under false pretenses and conspiracy to commit fraud. The allegations detail her involvement from 2010 to 2023, during which she reportedly defrauded multiple individuals.
