A notorious contract killer, Banarasi Yadav, was killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Tuesday night. The incident occurred on the Bariyasanpur Ring Road in Chaubepur while officers attempted to apprehend him. Yadav, suspected of murdering fertilizer trader Mahendra Gautam, succumbed to gunshot injuries after being rushed to a hospital, authorities confirmed.
During the operation, police recovered two pistols and a large number of cartridges from the scene. ADG (STF) Amitabh Yash stated that Yadav had over 24 criminal cases registered against him. Following the recent murder, a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the SC/ST Act was filed at the Sarnath police station.
Police are now actively searching for another suspect, known by the aliases Arvind Yadav, Fauji, or Kallu Yadav, who is reportedly hiding in Ghazipur district. Officers are conducting raids at potential hideouts and pursuing further legal actions as the investigation continues.
The encounter underscores the UP STF’s ongoing efforts to curb violent criminal networks in the state.
