Northbrook Police Arrest Robert Garrity, Others in Weekly Blotter

Multiple suspects face charges from theft to traffic violations

NORTHBROOK, IL — The Northbrook Police Department released details of recent arrests between July 11 and July 16, 2025, involving individuals charged with offenses ranging from criminal damage and traffic violations to retail theft and protection order violations.

Robert D. Garrity, of St. Louis, Missouri, was arrested at 9:01 a.m. on July 11 at Dundee and Midway Roads. Garrity had an active warrant from Cook County for criminal damage to property. He was taken into custody and transferred to Cook County Jail.

Horacio Azucena Leyva, of Chicago, was arrested at 2:36 p.m. on July 11 at Dundee Road and Oakleaf Terrace. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and assigned a court date of August 11.

Leangelo Maglantay, of Northbrook, was involved in a traffic accident at 5:40 p.m. on July 12 near Lake Cook Road and Pointe Drive. Police allege Maglantay, who was driving a motorcycle, failed to reduce speed and struck a Tesla. He was charged with multiple traffic offenses, including:

Suspended registration

Uninsured operation

Expired registration

No license classification

Failure to reduce speed
His court date is also scheduled for August 11.

Brianna E. Barbosa, of Chicago, and Milagros Carrion, of Burbank, were arrested for felony retail theft and obstructing identification at 2 a.m. on July 12 in the 3900 block of Willow Road. Police say the two were observed concealing merchandise in bags at a retail store. They are due in court on July 15.

Asma Bursurmanova, of Northbrook, was arrested at 9 a.m. on July 16 in the 4100 block of Lake Cook Road for violating an order of protection by allegedly contacting the protected party via phone. She was given a court date of July 17.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
