MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced that Anthony Paruolo, a 39-year-old man from North Bellmore, was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for the brutal stabbing death of his wife, Danielle Paruolo, in October 2022. The crime occurred while their eight-year-old child was in the home.
Paruolo had previously pleaded guilty to Murder in the Second Degree (an A-I felony) before Judge Robert A. Schwartz on December 4, 2024.
District Attorney Donnelly stated, “This defendant claimed a life and shattered a family when he stabbed his wife to death in the home they shared with their son. By pleading guilty, Anthony Paruolo accepted responsibility for his horrific and senseless crime, and today’s sentence ensures he is held fully accountable for the pain that he has caused. Our thoughts remain with Danielle Paruolo’s family and their son as they continue to navigate this unimaginable tragedy.”
According to DA Donnelly, on October 6, 2022, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Nassau County Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Paruolo home in North Bellmore. Danielle Paruolo, 42, had been in the process of separating from her husband and was taking steps toward a divorce, which led to the violent incident.
Upon arrival, authorities found Danielle Paruolo deceased in a pool of blood, with an approximately 13-inch-long chef’s knife lodged in her neck, and multiple stab wounds to her head, neck, and torso. Anthony Paruolo fled the scene and was arrested on October 7, 2022, at approximately 1:06 a.m. at a relative’s home in Kings Park, Suffolk County, by the Suffolk County Police Department. He was then transported to the Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad.
The couple’s eight-year-old child was found unharmed in another bedroom, though the emotional trauma from witnessing such a tragedy remains significant.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Litigation Counsel Ania Pulaski of the Homicide Bureau, under the supervision of Deputy Bureau Chief Daryl Levy, and Executive Assistant District Attorney for the Litigation Division Kevin Higgins. David Haber, Esq. represented the defendant.
The sentence of 20 years to life ensures that Anthony Paruolo will face substantial time in prison for his actions, and the impact of his crime will be felt for years to come by the victim’s family.
