by Amelia Crawford

Boston prosecutors have named Nora Nelson, 24, as a person of interest following the discovery of a man’s body aboard a houseboat in Charlestown. The man, believed to be in his 60s, was found dead late Sunday night by his son, who had gone to check on him. The body was discovered on the boat, and sources informed WBZ-TV that a dog was also found dead in the water nearby. Authorities say Nelson was the only person present at the scene.

On Tuesday, Boston police, including members of the dive team, returned to the marina to collect evidence and photograph the scene.

Nelson’s Court Appearance and Arrest

Nelson, who goes by Andi, appeared in court Tuesday and was named as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation into the man’s death. She was arrested on Sunday for open warrants related to a previous case, but she has not been directly charged in connection with the death. During her arraignment, Nelson’s defense attorney stated that she is an intern at Harvard working on a tech product and was unaware she was required to attend the hearing for her other legal matter.

The judge set Nelson’s bail at $7,500, citing the fact that she cannot be held solely as a suspect without charges.

Nora Nelson’s Legal History

Nelson’s legal history includes several incidents over the past few years. In September 2023, she was involved in a domestic dispute with her then 63-year-old ex-boyfriend, who claimed she owed him $300,000. She was arrested the following month for allegedly assaulting him. In January 2024, Nelson was sued for breaching a contract to purchase two condos worth $6.2 million in the seaport.

In December 2024, she faced charges in Texas for providing false identification. A month later, at the Nantasket Beach Hotel in Hull, Nelson allegedly became aggressive and attempted to use someone else’s credit card, though no charges were filed in that incident.

Charlestown Houseboat Incident

Neighbors at the marina told WBZ-TV that the victim was an attorney, though police have yet to release his name. Residents of the area described the incident as unusual and concerning, with one neighbor expressing concern over Nelson’s presence with an older attorney. “What would she be doing out here with an older attorney?” the neighbor asked.

An autopsy is expected to determine the cause of death, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
