Noida STF Arrests Three in Rs 10 Crore Cyber Fraud Bank Account Scam

Gang Ran Fake Arrests, Gaming Scams & Laundered Money via Cryptocurrency

by Ananya Mehta

The Noida Special Task Force (STF) arrested three men from a hotel in Sector 45 on Wednesday night for operating a large-scale cyber fraud racket. The gang duped victims through fake digital arrests, fraudulent gaming and trading apps, and provided Indian bank accounts for illegal money transfers.

Police recovered 39 bank accounts linked to the gang, revealing transactions exceeding Rs 10 crore. The defrauded money was converted into USDT cryptocurrency and laundered via hawala networks, with operations spanning several states including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

A senior STF officer explained the gang’s modus operandi: recruiting bank account holders as “mules,” paying them a 2-2.5% commission per transaction, and setting up companies under their names. Funds were routed through these accounts and transferred to China via Dubai, with much of the operation managed from Nepal.

Additional SP Rajkumar Mishra said the arrests followed intelligence and surveillance efforts. The accused — Mohan Singh alias Rocky and Arman from Aligarh, and Sanyam Jain from Baghpat — were apprehended and brought in for interrogation.

Mohan Singh began working as a taxi driver in Delhi NCR in 2021, where he connected with Rajan from Gorakhpur, who supplied mule accounts for cyber fraud proceeds. Mohan expanded the network by recruiting more participants, including Sanyam Jain and Arman. Sanyam handled cryptocurrency conversion and hawala transactions.

Victims include a Shamli resident who lost Rs 51 lakh on a fake share trading app, and a Rohini woman digitally arrested and defrauded of Rs 15 lakh. Cybercrime authorities have registered multiple complaints.

The STF continues to investigate a larger network behind these crimes.
