Two men, Jubair (30) and Masil (26), were arrested following a brief gunfight with police on Friday while allegedly targeting locked houses in Noida’s gated societies. The police have registered a case against them at Sector 24 police station.
Late Thursday night, a police team patrolling near the Sector 35 underpass noticed a car speeding. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects fired at them. In the retaliatory fire, Jubair was injured in the legs. Masil managed to escape initially but was caught later during a search.
The suspects had been involved in several burglaries over the past few days, including a recent theft in Sector 35. They conducted reconnaissance of the areas before striking and often posed as cab drivers to avoid suspicion. When questioned about their presence, they claimed to be searching for vacant rental houses.
Police records reveal Jubair has 13 theft cases under the Arms Act against him, while Masil has 12 such cases filed in the district.
A case has been registered under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 112 (petty organised crime), and 317 (stolen property) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector 24 police station.
From the suspects, police recovered two cameras, gold and diamond ornaments, cash amounting to Rs23,766, a car, and other valuables.
