MADISON, Maine (WABI) – A Madison man was arrested Tuesday morning after a drug bust led to a police chase, ending with the suspect hiding 40 feet up a tree.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search on Oak Street as part of a month-long investigation into suspected drug trafficking and stolen property.

During the operation, deputies spotted 40-year-old Noah Weeks, a suspect in the case, driving on Ward Hill Road. When officers attempted a traffic stop, Weeks refused to pull over, leading to a brief chase. He eventually drove onto a lawn, abandoned his vehicle, and fled into the woods.

A K9 unit tracked Weeks to a tree, where he had climbed 40 feet to evade capture. After an hour-long standoff, he surrendered and was taken into custody.

Authorities say Weeks was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants, including robbery, theft, eluding an officer, and failure to appear in court.

During the search of the home and vehicle, officers discovered Fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, two pistols, and stolen property linked to Penobscot County.

Weeks is currently being held without bail at the Somerset County Jail.
