Nirankar Arrested for Killing 4 Family Members in UP

Dispute over land sale turns deadly in Bahraich village

A man has been arrested for allegedly killing four members of his family following a dispute over money from a land sale in Basantpur Rudal Ram village, under Rupaidiha Police Station in Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh.

The accused, Nirankar, reportedly attacked his parents, grandmother, and sister with an axe after a late-night argument over money and jewellery from the land sale. The deceased have been identified as Badlu Ram (60), his wife Sanju Devi (56), their daughter Parvati, and Badlu’s mother Sitala (80). All four died on the spot from severe injuries.

According to police, Gurudev, Nirankar’s elder brother, heard loud noises around midnight and witnessed the violent altercation. He sustained injuries while trying to intervene, and his son Azad raised the alarm, alerting villagers. Local residents informed police, who rushed to the scene.

Durga Prasad Tiwari, Superintendent of Police (Rural), said that Nirankar also injured himself by hitting his head with a brick. He was taken into custody and admitted to the District Hospital in Bahraich before being referred to Lucknow under police supervision.

An FIR has been registered against Nirankar under Sections 103(1) and 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A forensic team has inspected the scene, and a detailed investigation is ongoing. A heavy police force has been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.
