The police have arrested Suraj, the ninth accused in the 2021 murder of Rinku (alias Harvinder) near Majri Chowk. Suraj, who was one of the key planners of the murder, had been evading arrest for nearly three years. He was arrested after a police raid in the vicinity of Majri Chowk, where he had been hiding for months, moving between various locations to avoid detection.

The tragic incident occurred on the night of September 26, 2021, when Rinku and his companions were attacked after dining at a Zirakpur hotel. A group of 10 to 15 individuals ambushed them near Majri Chowk, armed with swords and axes. Despite Rinku’s attempts to flee, he was fatally attacked, suffering severe injuries to his head and face. His companions managed to escape, but Rinku died at the scene.

Following the murder, the police had already arrested eight other individuals involved in the attack, including Ravinder from Jind and Manish alias Chhota Bahadur from Khadak Mangoli. After his arrest, Suraj was produced in court and has been sent to judicial custody for further legal proceedings.
