PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A retail theft crackdown in Cornelius, Oregon, led to the arrest of nine individuals, following a mission led by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
On May 2, detectives from the Sheriff’s Office, working in partnership with the Cornelius Walmart and Fred Meyer, focused their efforts on addressing organized retail crime. The mission involved collaborating with the stores’ asset protection teams to spot individuals involved in retail theft.
The operation resulted in eight arrests on charges of theft and criminal mischief, with one suspect also arrested on an outstanding warrant. The following day, a ninth individual was arrested in connection with return fraud at the Walmart.
Authorities recovered hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise during the operation. However, further details regarding the specific thefts and individuals involved were not immediately disclosed.
