Madapuram, Sivaganga: In a major development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Nikitha, who had lodged a false jewel theft complaint against B Ajith Kumar, the Madapuram temple security guard who was beaten to death while in police custody.
Ajith Kumar’s mother, B Malathi, expressed relief over CBI clearing her son’s name but lamented the loss of her child due to custodial violence. “The pain of losing my son remains, but at least his name is cleared. All officers responsible for his death should be punished,” she said.
Malathi urged the CBI to investigate the origins of the false complaint and take action against anyone who instructed Nikitha to file it. The family’s advocate, Ganesh, added that the investigation brought relief to the family, who had faced stigma for six months, and emphasized that the trial should be expedited and compensation provided to other victims, including Naveen Kumar, Praveen Kumar, Arun, and Vinoth, who were also assaulted by the police.
The CBI’s action against Nikitha marks a key step toward justice in the case, highlighting accountability for false complaints and custodial deaths.
