Hyderabad Cybercrime Police have arrested three Delhi-based men for allegedly selling counterfeit skincare products by misusing a registered brand name on e-commerce websites. The accused were identified as Nikhil (26), Mohit Sharma (25), and Sonu Kumar (26).
The arrests followed a complaint by a Hyderabad doctor, whose company markets skin and hair care products under a registered trademark. The doctor discovered unauthorised white-labelling of one of their soap products being sold online under fake brand names. Investigators found 19 fake listings across various e-commerce platforms.
Police seized 80 counterfeit soap bars, 20 fake skincare bars, and packaging materials during the operation. The accused were running a fraudulent online business, copying the design, size, and color of the original product with the help of two absconding accomplices, Dinesh Negi and Pankaj.
DCP Cybercrime D Kavitha explained that the gang identified high-demand products and started duplicating them for easy profits. These unauthentic goods misled consumers, damaged brand reputation, and potentially caused harm due to unregulated ingredients.
