In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Mumbai’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) Worli Unit arrested Frank Nnendi, a 43-year-old Nigerian national, from the Malad area on charges of possessing 200 grams of cocaine worth approximately Rs2 crore in the international market.
The arrest took place in JP Colony, Orlem, Marve Road, Malad, after a tip-off led the ANC team to intercept Nnendi. Upon search, officials found 200g of cocaine in his possession, along with a Honda Civic car worth Rs5 lakh and three mobile phones valued at Rs70,000.
Authorities revealed that Nnendi was living in India without valid travel documents, violating Section 14A(b) of the Foreigners Act, 1946. He also has a prior criminal record. The arrest was made under Sections 8(c) and 21(c) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of DCP Navanath Dhawale and ACP Sudhir Hirdekar, with Senior Inspector Santosh Salunkhe, PSI Prakash Sawant, and the ANC team executing the arrest.
Cocaine is a highly addictive stimulant narcotic, and its trafficking carries severe legal penalties in India. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the source and network behind the seized consignment.
