WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. (KTUL) — Two men were arrested Friday, July 18, after Wagoner County Sheriff’s deputies recovered a stolen sanitation truck and were allegedly assaulted during the arrest.

According to the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), a concerned caller reported that a family member had admitted to stealing the sanitation truck and expressed intent to harm anyone who tried to pursue him. The suspect also asked about acquiring a firearm.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they located the stolen vehicle. As they approached, the driver reversed the truck into a patrol vehicle intentionally, WCSO said.

After the collision, deputies ordered the suspects out of the vehicle. Both complied and were taken into custody without further incident.

Nicholas Lewallen and John Rogers were arrested and face charges of:

Possession of a stolen vehicle

Possession of burglar implements

Assault with a deadly weapon

Authorities are continuing their investigation.
