The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 63-year-old Ngozi Muotuanya on allegations of interstate child trafficking. According to police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, officers from the Oba Division apprehended Muotuanya on August 11 following credible intelligence.
Initial investigations uncovered that Muotuanya allegedly kidnapped a one-year-old boy from Minna, Niger State, in 2024 and sold him to an unsuspecting buyer in Anambra. She later resold the child to another individual.
On August 4, after discovering the child had been stolen, the second buyer returned the boy to Muotuanya, who subsequently abandoned him at an unidentified church in Minna. The child was later rescued by a leader of the Igbo community in the area.
Police have shared information about the child’s custodian with the Niger State Police Command to facilitate the boy’s recovery and reunification with his parents.
