Newton O’Keeve Tmarsel, 36, has been charged with burglary and theft following a break-in at Cheers Karaoke in the early hours of June 11, 2025. According to authorities, Tmarsel stole an iPad valued at $500, $2,000 in cash, and assorted alcoholic beverages from the establishment.
At a bail hearing, Superior Court Judge Joseph N. Camacho upheld a request from Assistant Attorney General Frances Demapan to keep Tmarsel’s bail set at $10,000. Due to a conflict of interest, the Public Defender’s Office will not represent him; a private attorney will be appointed.
Surveillance footage reviewed by Detective Felix Hocog captured Tmarsel entering Cheers Karaoke multiple times between 2:52 a.m. and 5:44 a.m., using a lighter to navigate the dark bar. The footage showed him exiting with various bags.
The bar’s operator noticed the burglary later that day when returning to find the door handle broken and several items missing, including alcohol from a cooler, cash from a drawer, and the iPad used for orders.
Tmarsel was remanded to the Department of Corrections and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 16 and an arraignment on July 21. The Attorney General’s Office also has a pending petition to revoke his probation from a 2019 case. Tmarsel was previously arrested in 2021 for assaulting an off-duty police officer.
