In a significant development, Chikkamagaluru police have arrested three Nepali nationals in connection with a house burglary that resulted in the theft of valuables worth Rs1.75 crore, including gold, silver, and vehicles.
The burglary occurred at the residence of JDS leader H G Venkatesh at Manipur Estate, Harandooru village, in the early hours of Thursday. Thieves broke in and made away with 1.8 kg of gold, 1.2 kg of silver, and other valuables.
Following a complaint at Koppa Police Station, two special teams were formed under Additional SP K T Jayakumar, supervised by SP Vikram Amate. Working with the Maharashtra Police, the teams arrested the suspects in Sangli, Maharashtra on Friday night.

Police also seized two cars used in the crime.
Investigation revealed that a Nepali couple, recently employed at the estate just 10 days before the burglary, had planned the crime and involved accomplices. The couple remains absconding, and police have launched a manhunt in coordination with other state agencies.
The arrests mark a major success in tackling inter-state and international burglary rackets.
