Nepalese Man Prithvi Arrested for Anjuna Supermarket Burglary

Prithvi caught fleeing after Rs1.9 lakh theft in Goa

Anjuna Police have arrested a Nepalese national, Prithvi alias Ashish, for a bold nighttime burglary at Oxfen Arcade Pvt. Ltd., a supermarket in Demello Wado, Anjuna. The theft, reported under Anjuna Police Station Crime No. 105/2025, was registered after a complaint by local businessman Ian Francis D’Souza.

The crime took place in the early hours of July 17, between 1:00 am and 1:30 am, when two masked men broke into the supermarket by cutting the metal grill of a rear window. The thieves stole around Rs1.9 lakh in cash, kept at various locations inside the store, and escaped.

Following a detailed investigation, police tracked Prithvi, 28, a private sector employee from Chitpol village, Bhaktapur district, Nepal. He was apprehended at the India-Nepal border while attempting to flee and brought back to Goa on July 21.

Prithvi is currently in six days’ police custody as investigations continue. Authorities are actively pursuing the second suspect involved in the burglary.
