In a significant breakthrough in Mumbai’s fight against illicit drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai unit seized 31.5 kgs of Mephedrone, a potent illegal narcotic, and arrested three individuals connected to the trafficking syndicate. The operation targeted a Mumbai-based network operating in the Nagpada and Dongri areas, known for its extensive and elusive drug operations.

The NCB’s Mumbai unit had been tracking the syndicate led by Musharaf JK, who is known to operate from the Nagpada-Dongri region. Despite the target’s evasive tactics, intelligence gathering and surveillance efforts from the NCB led to a breakthrough on June 26, 2024, when an urgent bulk consignment of drugs was set to be delivered.

Musharaf JK was intercepted in the Nagpada area, where he was found carrying 10 kgs of Mephedrone. During questioning, he revealed a storage location nearby, leading to the discovery of 10.5 kgs of Mephedrone and Rs. 69,13,400/- in drug sale proceeds. The search uncovered the drugs at a house occupied by a woman named Nausheen.

Further investigation led to the identification of a carrier, Saif, who was planning to deliver additional contraband. On June 27, 2024, Saif was intercepted in the Wadala area of Mumbai, where 11 kgs of Mephedrone were seized.

The recovered drugs were intended for distribution in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The NCB has confirmed that this syndicate has been operating for an extended period, trafficking large quantities of narcotics.
The NCB continues to question the arrested individuals for further leads into the operations of the syndicate, which remains a significant threat in Mumbai’s drug trafficking network. The seizure marks a major success for the NCB, especially in the sensitive and high-risk areas of Nagpada and Dongri. Authorities are focused on unraveling the syndicate’s larger network.

Further investigation is ongoing, and the NCB is committed to cracking down on illegal drug trafficking across the region.
