Continuing its strong stance against the menace of drugs, the Ganderbal Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered heroin from his possession in a targeted operation.
On Saturday, a police team from Police Post Gutlibagh set up a checkpoint at Wayil Wudder, where they noticed a suspicious individual attempting to flee upon seeing the naka party. The officers acted swiftly and apprehended him tactfully.
The accused has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Raina, son of Mohammad Ramzan Raina, a resident of Gagangeer, Sonamarg.
A search of his belongings led to the recovery of contraband heroin, following which Raina was arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 77/2025 at Police Station Ganderbal under the relevant sections of law, and an investigation is underway.
